Apple polyphenols, a key component of POWER CUTS, were shown to promote the activity of a fat burning enzyme in the liver, acyl CoA oxidation enzyme, and to further reduce the activity of fatty acid synthase (Osada, K., et. Al. “Effects of dietary procyanidins and tea polyphenols on adipose tissue mass and fatty acid metabolism in rats on a high fat diet.” J. Oleo Sci. 55, 79-89 (2006). In ano ther study², at the University of Arts and Sciences (Saitama, Japan), researchers showed that human subjects supplementing with apple polyphenols (600 mg per day for twelve weeks had significant reductions in adbominal fat, total cholesterol and LDL as compared to those consuming a placebo.

Another one of POWER CUTS key ingredients is L-Leucine, which has been found to stimulate greater fat loss and higher satiety. In a Columbia University study with animals fed high-fat diets, leucine supplements were found to decrease fat weight by 25 percent (Yiying Zhang, Kaiying Guo, Robert E. LeBlanc, Daniella Loh, Gary J. Schwartz, Yi-Hao Yu. Increasing dietary leucine intake reduces diet-induced obesity and improves glucose and cholesterol metabolism in mice via multi-mechanisms. Even though the results were less dramatic in animals fed normal diets, leucine was shown to trigger an increase in resting metabolism by boosting levels of uncoupling protein 3 (UCP3). UCP3 causes the body to lose energy as heat rather than storing it as fat. Leucine has also been found to promote the release of a protein called mTOR, which has a direct effect on the appetite control center in the brain, inhibiting hunger sensations. Finally, leucine improves insulin sensitivity (i.e. promotes blood sugar control) and reduces total and LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol).

POWER CUTS also contains L-Carnitine, which helps metabolize fat into energy. L-Carnitine transfers longchain fatty acids, such as triglycerides into mitochondria (a cell's energy powerhouse), where they may be oxidized to produce energy. In addition to fat burning, L-Carnitine is also great in dieting, as it reduces feelings of hunger and weakness.
